“She Thought It Was Just Menopause – The Truth Was Stage 4 Lung Cancer”

Kim Oakhill, a 51-year-old British woman, was treated for perimenopause for several months before discovering that she actually had advanced-stage lung cancer. Her symptoms began with hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, and leg pain, which were initially attributed to hormonal changes associated with menopause.

As her condition worsened, doctors increased her hormone treatment. However, when she developed a persistent cough and changes in her voice, further investigations were carried out. These tests revealed a tumor in her right lung and metastases in her heart and brain, confirming a diagnosis of stage 4, incurable lung cancer.Kim, a mother of three and a former worker in the British health system, had never smoked and never imagined she would receive such a diagnosis.

She is now raising funds to access private treatment that could potentially extend her life. She has also chosen to share her story publicly to raise awareness about the symptoms of lung cancer and to remind people that the disease can also affect non-smokers.
