“18th Birthday Nightmare: Millie Taplin Drugged at Moo Moo Clubrooms”

On Saturday, July 31, 2021, Millie Taplin from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, went out to celebrate her 18th birthday at the Moo Moo Clubrooms nightclub. During the evening, a stranger approached her and offered her a drink, saying, “Try this.” She took a couple of sips but immediately noticed the drink was very strong and didn’t taste right. Within just five to ten minutes, she began feeling extremely unwell.Her condition deteriorated rapidly.

She experienced blurred vision, numbness in her hands, and lost control of her speech and movement. She later described the terrifying experience by saying, “In my head, I was there but in my body, I wasn’t.” She was rushed to the hospital’s emergency department for urgent treatment.Doctors believed she may have been given a combination of substances designed to paralyse and sedate her.

Her mother, Claire, recorded her daughter’s condition in the hospital — showing Millie struggling to move properly — to warn others about the dangers of drink spiking.Essex Police later confirmed they were investigating the incident after receiving a report from the nightclub. Thankfully, Millie recovered after spending the night in hospital. The incident serves as a powerful warning about the importance of never accepting drinks from strangers and staying alert in public places.
