Black Face, White Beard, Unforgettable Presence: Meet Udi Neco

Completely black face, hair and beard white as snow, and a gaze that stopped the world. During the Turkey vs. Australia match on June 13 in Vancouver, the 2026 World Cup broadcast cameras couldn’t stop searching for him in the stands.

His name is Necdet Ölçerman, but on social media he is known as Udi Neco. This is not a character he improvised for the occasion — he has spent years building this identity in Turkish football. His black and white colors belong to Beşiktaş, and his striking look represents the “Black Bull,” a symbol of strength that he personally chose as his alter ego. Outside the stadium, he works as a jeweler and is a former member of the Turkish Gendarmerie.

Two lives you’d hardly imagine in the same person. Most surprising of all: when the final whistle blows, Udi Neco washes off the paint, puts away the Black Bull, and returns to complete anonymity, as if nothing had happened. Turkey lost 0-2 that day, but he is already preparing for the next match against Paraguay on June 19. The stadium is waiting for him.
