“Family Man Architect Sentenced to Life for 8 Murders – Wife Files for Divorce After Pizza DNA Bombshell”

Rex Heuermann, a 62-year-old architect, family man, and seemingly ordinary neighbor from Massapequa Park on Long Island, New York, will spend the rest of his life behind bars. This week, he was sentenced to three consecutive life terms plus an additional 100 years in prison, with no possibility of parole, for the murders of eight women spanning nearly two decades.
The case, known as the Gilgo Beach Killer case, remained unsolved for years. The first bodies were discovered in 2010, wrapped in burlap and left on a Long Island beach. Most of the victims were sex workers, and the investigation progressed slowly.
What ultimately led to his arrest was a slice of pizza he threw in the trash — DNA from the crust matched evidence found on the wrapping of one of the victims. When his wife of 27 years learned the truth, she filed for divorce immediately. At the sentencing hearing, the victims’ relatives held nothing back. “Nothing will ever repair this,” said Jasmine Robinson, cousin of Jessica Taylor. “My daughter had dreams, and you took them away from her,” said JoAnn Mack, mother of Valerie Mack. Judge Timothy Mazzei delivered a powerful closing statement: “You are a disgusting, despicable, small man. And you are a coward.”
