Turning this unconventional dream into reality was an enormous undertaking that demanded extensive planning, significant resources, and careful coordination. Her family purchased a total of fourteen standard burial plots to create enough space for the massive project. A specially designed, giant concrete vault was then constructed beneath the ground at Riverview Cemetery. The vault measured an impressive 27 feet in length, 12 feet in width, and 6 feet in depth — large enough to comfortably house the entire Cadillac.On the day of the funeral, a large crane was brought in to gently and respectfully lower the gleaming red Eldorado into the deep underground vault. A quiet crowd watched in awe as the car that had brought Aurora so much happiness was carefully positioned in its final resting place.
Once the Cadillac was securely in position, Aurora’s casket was placed directly on top of the car, fulfilling her heartfelt request in the most perfect way possible.Her love for both her husband and her treasured car remained strong even after death. Years later, in 2002, her devoted husband Raymond Schuck passed away. He was laid to rest beside her in the same cemetery, right next to the extraordinary grave that held his wife and her beloved red Cadillac. In the end, Aurora’s unique final wish came true.
