“Female Counselor Promised to Leave Her Husband for 14-Year-Old Student – Sentenced to 40 Years”
Jessica Finley, a school counselor and coach in North Carolina, was sentenced to 28 to 40 years in prison after it was revealed that she had used her position to sexually abuse a 14-year-old student who had originally come to her for help with anxiety.
The manipulation was so severe that Finley — dubbed a “monster” by the victim’s family — promised to leave her husband and children in order to start a new life with the minor.The case came to light when the boy’s parents discovered disturbing text messages in which the counselor planned secret encounters and used emotional blackmail, even threatening to take her own life if the teenager tried to pull away.
Amid sobs and apologies that the victim’s family described as insufficient, Finley stood in court and heard her sentence for betraying the trust of a vulnerable student who had desperately needed her guidance.
