“Sixth CPS Teacher Charged This School Year After Allegedly Beating and Choking a 12-Year-Old Boy”

A Chicago Public Schools teacher is accused of brutally beating and choking a 12-year-old student, making her at least the sixth CPS employee charged this school year with assaulting students.Alayne Pierce-Collins, 37, faces serious felony counts of aggravated battery of a child causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery of a child by strangulation causing great bodily harm.
The allegations stem from a disturbing incident that occurred on December 12, 2025, at Pershing Magnet School, located at 3200 South Calumet Avenue in Chicago’s Douglas neighborhood.According to prosecutors, the attack took place inside Pierce-Collins’ classroom. She allegedly grabbed the 12-year-old boy, dragged him across the room, and then struck him in the face multiple times.
The student was left with visible injuries, including bruising and swelling around one eye, as well as cuts on both sides of his face.Prosecutors further alleged that Pierce-Collins placed the child in a chokehold, restricting his ability to breathe. The violent incident was witnessed by other students and school staff members who were present in the classroom at the time.
Following her arrest, a judge released Pierce-Collins with strict orders to stay away from the alleged victim.This case marks the sixth time a Chicago Public Schools employee has been charged this school year with physically or sexually assaulting students, raising serious concerns about safety and discipline within the district.
