The Temple/Theater complex of Monte San Nicol
•It is located in Pietravairano in the province of Caserta in the Campania region of Italy.
•The complex was lost and forgotten for centuries; then found by accident by a local pilot following a brush fire in 2001.
•The complex is sited atop Mount Nicola at a height of 450 meters above sea level and is accessed by ascending a steep, gravel walkway.
•Dating back to the 2nd-1st Century BC, the temple-theater complex was abandoned in the 2nd Century CE and gradually faded from public memory due to its relatively remote location and the growth of vegetation that concealed the ruins.
•The seating capacity of the complex is 2,000, featuring a Cavea that spans 43 meters in width and an Orchestra measuring 21 meters wide.
•Since 2002, a total of eight excavation campaigns have been conducted at the San Nicola theater/temple complex.
